Palliative Care EdcuationThe Palliative Hub - Learning Platform’s overarching goal is to provide an online learning environment for palliative care education. The Learning Platform offers a  number of palliative care online learning and blended learning programmes and it offers an environment for palliative care educators, including hospice education providers to host their own learning materials. The Learning Platform currently contains:

The All Island Programmes:

In May 2015, a suite of new online palliative care education programmes was launched by  All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC) and its partners. The online programmes will not only be of benefit to those working directly in palliative care, but also more broadly to all health and social care professionals. The programmes and associated learning resources have been developed by five different hospice education providers with funding and support from AIIHPC. programmes available are:

  • Introduction to Palliative Care: Milford Care Centre
  • Formal Family Meetings a structured approach to communication within Palliative Care: Marymount University Hospital and Hospice and Milford Care Centre
  • Introduction to Palliative Dementia Care: Northern Ireland Hospice
  • Care of the Dying of Older Person in the last hours of life: St. Francis Hospice
  • Managing Older Peoples’ Pain Using A Palliative Care Approach: Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services.

  • Raising awareness of palliative care for health and social care professionals – AIIHPC
  • Raising awareness of palliative care for the general public – AIIHPC
  • Palliative Needs Assessment – HSE
  • Palliative Care: Assessment and Management of Common Symptoms – University College Cork & Marymount University Hospital and Hospice
  • Introduction to Advance Care Planning - University College Cork
  • Mind Matters - Raising Awareness of Depression in Palliative Care – Palliative Care Senior Nurse Network
  • ‘Listen with eyes, ears and heart’ online resource to empower teachers to support bereaved pupils - Irish Childhood Bereavement Network (ICBN).
  • Psychosocial Care for People with Motor Neurone Disease – Our Lady’s Hospice Care and Services, MND Centre Beaumont Hospital and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
